A kudos to Paul Wells for his rebuttal of Mark Steyn’s selective and improper use of statistics to support his rather biased and singular opinions. I have often written letters critical of Steyn, but with one exception, it was not printed; to the degree that I almost suspected Mr. Steyn of being a “fifth column” hiding amongst Maclean’s editorial board.
Now, Mr. Wells has gone a long a long way in mollifying my ire and making the points better than could I.
Having gotten it of my chest, I had to wipe the smirk off my face when I read Mr. Steyn’s irreverent column in the same issue, on Jennifer Lynch and the CHRC. There, I agree with him wholeheartedly. Love him or hate him, he sure can dish it out in a profusion of vernacular castigations.
Kind of reminds one that there are often two (or more) sides to a story, and that not everything is black or white –we often find ourselves in the grey areas.
